As India celebrates its 68th Republic Day; let us look back at ‘Made in India’ inventions and discoveries that will make every Indian proud.

Here I’m picking up five innovative inventions and discoveries that have an Indian connection. The inventions that we are in touch with our day to day life & will make you go “OMG! I LOVE MY INDIA”

Prepare to be stunned!

1. Flush Toilets:

Yes, India invented flush toilets. The Harappa and Indus valley civilizations had flush toilets thousands of years ago. They even had a sewage system that is said to be unparalleled. From the ruins that the archaeology department has discovered, there existed a sophisticated sewage mechanism in most houses. Their civilization had sanitary functions like the ones that no one could imagine existed at that time.

2. Buttons:

Buttons made from seashell were used in the Indus Valley Civilization for ornamental purposes rather than for fastening. Some buttons were carved into geometric shapes and had holes pierced into them so that they could be attached to clothing with thread.

3. Universal Serial Bus or USB:

USB is the most widely used gadget in the world, used by around 10 billion people. Ajay Bhatt who is an Indian- American architect, is the creator of USB. But sadly, he still remains a very lesser known personality when we talk about tech inventions despite having invented something as important as the USB.

4. Shampoo:

Yes! The shampoo you use for your hair was invented in India. In fact, the word shampoo itself is derived from the Hindi word chāmpo. A variety of herbs and their extracts were used as shampoos since ancient times.

5. RULERS:

Rulers, which consists of measuring units, inches, and centimeters, were first discovered in Indus Valley Civilization. Made of ivory, the rulers found during excavation, reveal the amazing accuracy of decimal subdivisions on it.

TRAPPED- The First Taste (Part 1)

It was another boring and tiring day for Basu. The hectic schedule at the office seemed to add another bitter taste to his messed up life. The clock on the wall struck 1 am. Basu was lying on his bed thinking of something, something which has not been going well since last few months. From the time his girlfriend, Baani, left him his life has completely turned around. Since then he has become less social and seemed to have a good of friends with loneliness. He tries to sleep but his eyes are wide awake. He then reaches for his mobile lying on the table, next to his bed. He stared at his lock screen for hours while tears rolled down his cheeks and memories flooding his mind. He unlocked the screen and still kept glaring at his mobile. He scrolled through the pictures of those wonderful moments, they shared together making promises to stay together for a lifetime. He could feel her presence everywhere. Every second of his life, everything he did, it reminded him of her. She was a...

REMEMBERING OUR BELOVED SIR SARAN SUBBA

"He had the heart that cared completely. He had the smile that brought so much pleasure. He had the love that brought joy beyond measure." Saran Sir with his family Yesterday, my day began with scrolling the news as usual but by the time the day ended, I was sad and lost because we lost a person who was very very dear to us. Sir Saran Subba left for the heavenly abode on 19th June 2021. The intimation of the demise of Sir Saran stands as one of the most disappointing and darkest days to the people of Pulbazar. The void he left behind will never be filled. Sir Saran - a man of principle, a wonderful teacher, a social worker, a sports enthusiast, a leader, and the list goes on. Moreover, he was a loveable and a gem of an individual. Sir Saran always carried a big smile on his face. In fact, I never saw him angry and I bet no one else ever did.  Sir Saran Subba representing Pulbazar Shuttlers Association in Veteran Badminton Tournament held in Bijanbari (2021) I was fortunate en...

She is the word, I'm the letter, She is the story and I'm the teller. She is the book, I'm the pages, She is the sentence and I'm the spaces.
